CET 13.38 Rome, 3 August 2023 - Mundys continues to deliver on its ESG commitments. Mundys's CO2 emission reduction targets, which the Group has set for all its assets worldwide, have been certified by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). This partnership, which comprises CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the UN Global Compact, WRI (the World Resources Institute) and WWF, is deemed to be the international reference point for the assessment of companies' decarbonisation targets in line with scientific findings. SBTi considered Mundys's direct emission reduction targets (Scope 1 and Scope 2) to be adequate for keeping global warming below the 1.5°C threshold. This is the most ambitious target set by the SBTi protocol, which only a few groups in the motorway and airport sectors have adopted.
The approved targets include:

• A 50% reduction in direct emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) across the entire Group by 2030, compared to the base year of 2019. In 2022, the Group had already reduced its direct emissions by 26% thanks to the initiatives it is implementing, including these energy efficiency and infrastructure transition investments: large-scale adoption of LED lighting, the replacement of heating and cooling systems, the electrification of company fleets, and the installation of more than 60 MW of solar plants across managed infrastructure. Currently, two thirds of the electricity used already comes from renewable sources, and all airport operating subsidiaries are striving to achieve zero directly controlled emissions by 2030.
• Collaboration with the upstream and downstream value chain to reduce indirect emissions (Scope 3) compared to the base year of 2019: 22% fewer kilometres travelled on motorways with regard to infrastructure maintenance and operation materials; 50% fewer emissions directly controlled by companies in which Mundys has a minority stake; involvement of airlines so that they in turn commit to science-based decarbonisation targets
