Our subsidiary Abertis, an international referent in road infrastructure management, has a strong commitment to promoting culture. In recent years, Abertis has promoted exhibitions by both Joan Miró and other great artists like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Diego Velázquez, and Antoni Gaudí, in large cities such as Paris, Madrid, Rome, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or Santiago de Chile.

The Abertis Foundation is a non-profit organization that responds to the impact that the economic activity of the Abertis Group has in the territories where it is present. The Foundation gives priority to actions related to road safety, the environment, social action, and culture.

The Abertis Foundation, together with the Fundació Joan Miró, the Ministry of Public Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and the Spanish Agency for International Development, brought a collection of masterpieces by the Catalan artist Joan Miró to Mexico City in the Cultural Center of Spain in Mexico, in a project that takes his art works to Spanish Embassies abroad.

The exhibition Universo Miró takes us into the creative, unique and personal process of Joan Miró, transporting us to the mind and making of one of the most important artists of the 20th century through the exploration of the artist’s sign language through a concise and careful selection of paintings and sculptures of his last period coming from the funds of the Fundació Joan Miró. The set includes a collection of the artist’s masterpieces including the 1978 paintings Femme dans la nuit (Woman in the night), Femme (Woman), Personnages et oiseaux avec un chien (Characters with birds with a dog) and Personnages et oiseaux un paysage nocturne (Characters and birds in a nocturnal landscape) that, in addition to developing the artist’s sign language, present another of his capital elements in his universe: the use of bright colors. Previously, this collection traveled to Paris, Brussels, Rome, Berlin and Dublin. This is the first time the exhibition travels to  Latin America.
