Our subsidiary Aeroporti di Roma (ADR) strengthens its collaboration with Eni for the decarbonisation of the aviation sector and acceleration of the green transition process in airports, thanks to the purchase of Biofuel that allows a significant reduction in emissions.

From the Eni biorefinery in Venice a load of 5 thousand liters of pure hydrogenated biofuel HVO arrived at Fiumicino airport, used in the vehicles of the company ADR Assistance for the handling of passengers with reduced mobility within the airport. HVO is a high-quality biofuel of vegetable origin and waste, produced through Eni's proprietary Ecofining™ technology in Eni's Venice and Gela biorefineries, which makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions (calculated over the entire life cycle) by between 60% and 90% compared to traditional fuel, depending on the type of biogenic feedstock.

The agreement between Eni and ADR is already active for the supply of alternative sustainable aviation fuels (Sustainable Aviation Fuel or SAF) produced in the Eni refinery in Taranto through a co-feeding process, co-firing the conventional plants with 0.5% quotas of used cooking and frying oils. This is a further acceleration by Aeroporti di Roma on the sustainability front after Fiumicino airport, Italy's first airport hub, obtained as the first airport in Europe the highest Airport Carbon Accreditation 4+ "Transition" certification from ACI Europe on CO2 reduction.
