Sustainability: Atlantia improves its position in the Carbon Disclosure Project's rating for climate action

22 December 2022

CET 18.43 Rome, 22 December 2022 – CDP Climate’s updated rating of Atlantia for 2022 confirms the solidity of our decarbonisation strategy. CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) is the leading platform for monitoring the climate action initiatives of approximately 20,000 institutions, states, cities and companies across the globe. Climate action is an urgent global challenge that requires the public and private sectors to work together. Atlantia’s commitment focuses on two areas: the development of sustainable infrastructure enabling the energy transition to low-carbon mobility for communities and the decarbonisation of the Group’s processes and activities. In 2022, the Holding has served as a pathfinder in the transparent planning of climate action initiatives in Italy, having put our Climate Action Plan to a Say on Climate vote by shareholders. The plan aims to reduce our direct CO2 emissions to zero by 2040 and encourage the decarbonisation of economic activity throughout the value chains in the motorway, airport and mobility services sectors. Over 98% of shareholders voting in favour of the plan, one of the highest approval rates recorded by similar shareholder votes held in Europe in 2022. The centrality of ESG issues in our Group’s strategy was also reinforced in 2022 through the adoption of a Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework, embedding sustainability in the Company’s financing strategy in response to the growing importance of such concerns for global investors. CDP Climate’s rating further confirms the improvements achieved by Atlantia as certified by the main ESG rating agencies. The Company is also judged to have achieved leadership positions by Moody’s ESG (the highest rating of Advanced), MSCI ESG ratings (AA – industry leader), FTSE4Good (in the top 5% in the sector), the ISS Quality Score (the highest score for all aspects of ESG), Refinitiv (in the top 3% in the sector), Sustainalytics (the highest score of negligible ESG risk), the GLIO/GRESB index (the highest rating of A). 2022 also saw Atlantia included for the first time in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, thanks to our constant commitment to gender equality issues.
